Anyone have extremely stupid neighbors?
This all happened at our last house. We moved because of the insanity and it was the best decision in my life! Ended up on 2.5 acres :D The info below was copied from another forum where I posted it in 2003.
================================
We've got one of these houses right next door that is possessed. The first owners were a gay couple. These guys were just plain freaky. When we heard they were moving out and renting their house to our "cool" neighbors brother in laws I thought that would be great.
Of course things never work out as expected. The brother in laws were big time alkys. They were constantly fighting and the cops were over there on a regular basis, which is kind of funny since my "cool" neighbor is a cop. I actually called the cops on the guys one night when I heard them screaming at each other and I heard the one yell "drop the hammer and fight like a man". They lasted about a year in the house.
Next up is our current neighbors the California transplants. Mom and dad are like 60 and the kid is 16. They just get along great, in fact they get along so great my neighbor arrested the 16 year old the other night for choking his father.
Think back to being 16. Think about being 16 and choking your father and being sent to jail for it. Now think about what may happen to you the day you got out of jail and went back home. Do you think it would have went anything like this?
The 16 year old punk *** kid got a mint 2000 Grand Cherokee from his parents. They bought it for him the NEXT day!
Great, teach the kids there are consequences for his actions. Choke dad, get a truck!
Yep, 16 years old. He has had 4 accidents since I have known him. He got hit on a bicycle before he got his license. When he got his license his parents bought him an '80s model Eldorado in mint condition. It was his "pimp mobile" and he actually put a "Pimp Daddy" sticker in the rear window.
Within a week he smashed the front end. At the end of the month he totaled the car claiming "the brakes failed".
After that they bought him a moped. An actual pedal till it starts bike with a motor. This kid is 6'5" and weighs 325. The moron tries to wheelie down the road, the bike goes out from under him and he smacks his skull into the pavement. 4 days in a coma from that one. He comes home like a month later with a drain coming out the back of his skull and the kid is now slower than usual.
I was cleaning the engine on our Golf yesterday. The neighbors dog walks up and I didn't want him stepping in or licking the degreaser laden water on the driveway. So I patted the dog on the head and told him to go home.
Just then I hear my neighbor yell for his dog. He had been working under the car in his driveway and I hadn't noticed him. He comes out from under and says "I can't beleive you are using your hose and Reggie didn't bark at you, he always barks at Clair when she uses the hose". I said "Jerry that's because I don't let your dog bark. I yell at your dog for barking so he knows better. Clair LETS him bark".
He didn't say a word to that.
Update... the neighbor kid tried to push his mom out of his SUV while he was driving in our neighborhood. He spent a week in jail for that... Even so he still lives at home and he still has his Grand Cherokee.
Gotta love it!!
The plot thickens... The kid called CPS and had himself removed from his house after he cried "abuse". The "abuse" which he reffered to was his parents telling him he could no longer keep his ferrets in his bedroom and that they were taking his TV out of his room as a punishment.
As far as I can tell this is the first time they ever tried to discipline their son.
Problem Solved
Char and I were sick of the mess. We had enough of dropping hints the size of a boulder on his head so we stepped up the campaign. I went to the City of Phoenix Zoning Dept. online and printed out a brochure about neighborhood blight, and all of the rules and fines the city imposes if you don't obey the law.
I left the packet of materials on his front doorstep last Tuesday. After leaving the materials I called the City of Phoenix Zoning Dept. and filed a complaint against him. I didn't realize how quickly the Zoning Dept. would act. They must have come the same day or the next day because he had received a letter from them saying they had performed an inspection of his property and he had 10 days to comply or face $1500 a day fines
He has been cleaning up the front yard for the past three days. All the crap is gone including his tarp covered car port. If he starts his collection up again we aren't waiting to call the city. You give this guy an inch an he'll take a mile.
And you need a Home Owners Association for what reason???

Soon after that we moved. A couple years later we read this in the paper about the kid next door:
http://www.azcentral.com/community/.../02/20/20100220phoenix-beer-run-homicide.html
Man, 23, fatally shot after intervening in beer run
This happened in a really bad part of town. The kid was there looking like a wannabe gang banger, bagging, hat sideways, the whole bit. Trouble is he ran into a REAL gang banger...

This was the response from one of the guys who had been watching the thread over the years:
Wow.
At one point in the thread, I guessed that the kid would be in prison by the time he was 25. Instead, he's dead at 23.
