Next was the installation of the new gas tank and 3/8'' sending unit.
The gas tank was a new Spectra unit, very nice and made in Canada! The kicker is, i ordered it online from the U.S.A. because it was cheaper than i could buy it in Canada. :wack:
The tank was installed with a new filler grommet and i just reused a good old top pad. In went the sending unit and it was installed in the car with cleaned up and painted straps and j bolts. What an easy installation it was!
I was going to use the curved filler tube out of a fold down seat car that was in the hang 10 parts car, but it was bent somehow and the gas cap didn't fit well. So i used the filler tube, gas cap, and rubber floor seal from the red '75 parts car as it was in great shape. The filler tube is installed from outside of the quarter panel and is installed after the gas tank is in on '75s which makes it easier.
Some new gas line hoses and with the ground strap cleaned up, it was a sweatless installation overall.
I definitely wouldn't fart around wit an old tank again unless it was perfect inside and out!
It cost me under $240.00 for everything after shipping etc.
I will have to take some more pictures and add them later, the ones of it installed didn't turn out.
