Here is the auto one that I converter to 4 speed. If using a hurst shifter there is no need to cut the side of the console, I left my auto base untouched. I believe that hump on the side is a holdover from the early A's, or from the inland shifter days..... The hurst shifter clears with no issues. As for the top plate I cut it to the factory location, ensuring that it encompassed the auto holes, and fit the shifter boot, then I trimmed the opening with some aluminum extrusion from the hardware store designed for edging around floor ceramic tiles, it worked and looks great.
