Have a 61 Lancer 770 4-door stock, wanting to replace the steering (knuckle-to-K-Member) strut bushings but not sure that I have the right parts. Kanter, NAPA, etc offer the small conical rubber bushings, one per side and I ordered some recently (photo). These are consistent with 1961 Service Manual as well.
The ones installed (photo) are clearly much bigger and there are two per side, with concave washers and a 7/8" nut that sandwich around the K-Member, similar to 95% of other American cars. Was there a mid-year change as the Lancer adopted the Valiant changes? The larger Dart/Seneca/Polara used this type of bushing 60-64 - is there a reason my Lancer should have this set-up?
