A primer-paint ?

Can you primer one day and sand paint it the next without later issues of primer shrinkage and cracks? If so is there any special primer to use? The paint will be base coat clear coat. Thanks

It's usually the preference of the painter. I hear both ways, some saying they wait two weeks and others do it day after. With my car we left it over night to dry and then baked it at 140 for 1/2 hour. I am sure it is dry, but then again I still haven't begun to sand it because I am away, so I have added insurance.
