My Third Times A Charm 69 Dart Swinger

-
I have always wanted a flamed car. I figure this is my last chance and why not do it. I have the paper patterns and all the color codes in case something happens.

Here's where I'm at today, minus the motor. That's another post.

More chassis work. Just touched up the original undercoat. I decided to leave it that way since it's original and a street car.

Nice paint, I would stick with the retro 70's interior if it is still presentable.

I'm not sure of the bedliner brand, but if you google it you will probably find it. I'll look and see what I can find. Not sure what to do about the interior. I have the original back seat but the front bench is gone. Several years ago I was at AutoRama in Houston and picked up a pair of buckets and the rear seats from a G8. They are done in black leather and look nice. I would have electric seats and the buckets look nice, not dorky. My idea was to use these plus modify the back to fit. They are close in dimensions. I would use a new set of door panels and headliner, all Mopar of course. I have a perfect dash pad I picked up at Columbus several years and the rest would be factory dash etc. What do you think?

Well all the drive line is finished. A few items to button up and the drive line is ready to install. Had Passion rebuild the 4 speed, new Centerforce clutch assy and refinished my 70's Lakewood bell housing. Should have the driveline installed in a couple of weeks then start installing the Ron Francis wiring harness. More pics in a couple of weeks.

Made some progress over the summer, not a lot but the drive line is complete. Next phase is new wiring with a Ron Francis kit. More coming, as I complete the steering column and dash.

Did you have any problems installing the Lakewood bell housing? I'm getting ready to install mine with motor and trans at the same time from under side heard some people say the Lakewood hit the firewall seem. We'll I just looked you used a different k member

Well its been a while since I have posted any updates. During that time I have bought every new interior piece I could find as far as soft trim and upholstery. I decided to do pearl white 69 skins on the buckets from a 68 cuda and a doe skin color for the headliner, dash and carpet. I had the dash and steering column paint matched to the headliner. The latest pics here are of the rebuilt steering column. I used an AlterKation solid bearing to replace the ball bearing and cut off the column tube up to the firewall for more header clearance on the #7 tube. More to follow.
Enjoy

Here's the painted dash with the new wiring harness going in. What a job, I managed to buy new contacts and sockets except for the steering column and dash. I used the old connectors and found contacts so I was able to keep factory connectors with new wiring and contacts. No AMP gauge for this car, it's just for looks now. The dash and roof are insulated with a lightweight glue on thermal barrier as you can see under the dash. All engine compartment items are mounted under the dash: coil, voltage regulator, ballast and starter relay. The battery is going in the trunk so I made a plate and mounted bulkhead connectors for the starter and ground cables. They come out through the firewall where the old wiring harness was. A friend gave me a like new Vintage Air 69 Chevelle evaporator and it worked out perfectly. The heater hoses go down the top outside fender well on the passenger side and the AC hoses and wiring harness go down the drivers side. More on that later. Ron Francis makes some slick billet bezels and knobs for my stock switches. Bought a new headlight switch from him also. Hope I can get it fired up by August.
Enjoy
