i've never used this route since i'm so close to 295 and 95 but i have quite a few friends that say its a faster easier drive.

Looking at that route you can drop off onto US15 south just outside of Harrisburg and then run on down US17 to 95. Two lanes, but some pretty country along the way. Puts you back on 95 south of the Beltway and above Richmond.
