Mopar electronic distributor

As an engineer, I have to laugh when people argue about "Mopar" vs "GM" parts. Neither makes brakes, electronics, wiring, seats, ... The auto companies mostly make chassis', engines, and transmissions. Most other components come from 3rd party specialist companies. They issue requests for bids and they usually select the low bidder. GM did own some of these companies (Delco, Saginaw?), mainly because they were so big and could, but has since sold many off. The Mopar ignition was great for being first. Later, improved ignition designs were able to eliminate the ballast resistor. Mopar did too, but chose to incoporate it in the large "spark computer" box, so we can't use that in our cars.
