Does a non A/C firewall have a different opening than a A/C fire wall. Im curious because I tried to mount a non A/C box into my A/C car and it wasnt even close to fitting. Then found out that there was a trim ring for the fire wall side that was used to support the non A/C box. This was on my 71 Scamp. I would love to see pics of the mounting, or bare fire wall with either option box.

Yes they are different. I don't have pics handy but if nobody posts I'll take some.

Hey Ramie, I sent you pics in an email...dunno if it applies as yours is a 71..these pics are of dads 67 ac cuda.

In 6pk's pics, you can see the 4 holes for the mount plate/ring for the blower motor. Here is a pic of my 69 non ac cuda.

the non a/c firewall retaining ring is just about the same diameter maybe a touch bigger as the a/c hole diameter.

this is a non a/c box in an A/C hole.

Do you have any issues with the box moving around in the hole? Happen to have any pics with that trim ring removed? I didnt feel like messing with it so I sold the box but maybe I should have held onto the box. I dont like the big heavy A/C box and duct work

It does lose some of the integrity that the ring gives to support the heater box. but with the firewall pad it stays snug and does not move around. I can grab it with force and move it. Currently, I am looking for a piece of non a/c firewall to weld in behind it. I just have problems parting cars that can be fixed. lol...

The car is a non a/c car that someone converted through the years. While I have most of the pieces to add a/c to it if wanted it just looks too crowded in the engine compartment and it doesn't get that hot here.

what i did to turn my a/c car to non ac was cut a round plate 2" bigger OD then the outside non a/c trim ring and installed it on the inside so the gaskets would seal correct and allow you to tighten it down to the cowl.
