Well I figured Id better make some progress while Cosgig tries to fire up his "snuggle-stick"...LOL Lens' are polished and put back in....never though it would be as much of a pain as it was, but it was a pain in the arse! Still lots to do, but at least here is a pic of progress so far!

Wow I get to double dip?? Or am I late to the party?? Here is where Im at...gauge needles painted Testors Fluorescent orange...took advice and thinned a little bit. Also if I had red I would have mixed the 2 colors to darken the orange a bit. Doesnt look like it in the pics, but its really bright.

Polished up the circuit board with brasso and discovered a loose copper peg.
Gonna have to remedy that!! Ideas??

The mirrored bulbs(look the same as 194) any ideas where to get?? I can get 194's but have never seen them with a "mirrored" lens anywhere for sale. They are from the blue sockets/shades in the potmetal
Thanks all, hope to pop back in with more progress soon

The show didn't get cancelled, but like "Billy the Exterminator", we have been put on "hold", at least I have anyway. I'm hopelessly stuck in the vendor vortex!! I have paid the required 1/2 down payment on my bezels to be on the 10-12 week turnaround time, and I believe I'm about 6 weeks into that. Hopefully its more like 10 weeks than 12!!

I'm gonna ramp up the show when I get my stuff back, and I know Rani is back in school andd probably has little free time herself, so that leaves Steve-O right now. He was the last poster and looks like he has the contest well in hand, at least for now. I'm actually starting to believe that Steve paid off GCAR to hide my parts, and that he has kidnapped Rani and is holding her captive in a 1976 Datsun B210 somewhere up in sunny Canada!!

Maybe he can chime in and offer up an excuse...any excuse...we'll bite on just about anything right now!!! geof

Looking good Steve, I'd be able to see those needles without my glasses on :)

Thanks Peter, not much to add here, Im caught up in a vortex similar to Cosgig, but mine is a financial vortex. Sandblasting my dash frame is the next order of biz...maybe get to that this week??

BTW, the shouldered screws that Rani posted, where do they go?? I recognize them but cant remember where from....

Dude, those are just tired-out bulbs.....they get that mirrored look after years of use.

Those are the screws that hold the dash plastic bezel on.....the ones you can see inside the holes in front.

Removed my windshield and dash assembly today... my ten year old son helped with the parts that could be done with a ratchet. I moving ahead slowly, but may catch you guys soon...

LOL, I figured the bulbs out...DOH:banghead:

As for the screws, are all the "face/front mounted" ones like that?? (same size?) Seems when we were pulling dads bezel out that there were different sized ones??

Great! Glad to see you jump in! My upcoming move is gonna have me lapped in no time.
Did you take before pics??

No lack of pictures... the bezel and cluster are actually done. The dash frame and all its mods will be the time sink. When I bought my car in 1989 (or was it 88...?) the only thing in the cluster location was a cheap tach and some shattered remnants of the stock dash. In 1991 I fabbed up a piece of aluminum fit with some Autometer gauges and literally stuffed it into the hole. About 7 years ago I found an original cluster that was in decent shape and snagged it. A little over a year ago I had it sent out for some custom work by Redline guage. More detail on that if you follow the link in my signature starting at about post #53.

i got my windsheild back in ....that was a major obstacle of this project ...so the dash frame is once again trapped in. what a workout .....what a job to do by myself ......one inch at a time ...took forever ...at least i didnt break the window

i also soaked a few clips and bolts in metal ready ...it removed all the rust and then i painted appropriately and baked a little LOL.

i determined from my cousin's cuda that there are 8 shouldered screws and they were plated a shiney silver .....as far as i know they were all silver until 70 ...70 and 71 were phosphate black to match the bezel ...i could be wrong but that what i got from digging around
