Powersteering Pump
I have been doing some research on this pressure issue. Since the pump is a toyota (toyoda on pump itself) pump I went that direction. Found an interesting article on it here
http://ls1tech.com/forums/conversio...ering-pressure-power-steering-pump-cts-v.html post 11 as the Cadillac cts-v uses the almost identical pump. The pressure relief valve is no serviceable unlike the other type 2 gm pumps but very much the same as the one in our pumps. I pulled the valve out of my pump to have a look and it appears to be the same valve. In this he states he contacted cardone about pressures in various toyota pumps and found the 2002 - 2006 camry has a pressure relief of 1275 psi. maybe still slightly higher than the 1000 or so the mustang rack is supposed to have but probably close enough not to cause serious damage. He outlines the change here
http://www.buyrcars.com/jag.htm about 3/4 of the way down the page. He bought a used pump off ebay and swapped valves. When he tried it it did not build pressure so he went back to the original high pressure valve. What is not known is if the valve in the used box was good to start with. I think it is definitely worth pursuing and as soon as the weather breaks I plan on taking a trip to the j/y to pick up a few of these valves and see what happens. maybe not an end all solution yet but definitely a possibility
