Time to freshen up the Dart. I decided it was time to add the wheels I wanted all along, and bought a set of American Muscle 17x8 and 17x10 Bullitt wheels and a set of tires, 245/45r17 and 295/45r17 drag radials.

Unfortunately, I tried to bolt on the fronts, but the rotor hubs interfered (I suspected they would), fortunately my friend Kevin Alexander had a very large lathe in his garage. He turned down the small step on the hub near the rotor and cut a notch toward the outer bearing of the hub, the wheels fit perfect now! We spent about an hour cutting and measuring with a bit of trial and fitting, and probably spent two hours shooting the bull. The front tires fit perfectly on a 73+ k frame with about 5/8" clearance to the front fender lip. The rear is a stock a body 8 3/4 rear with small drums redriilled to large bolt pattern. The back was mini-tubbed, I have at least an inch clearance to the inner and outer fenders/wheel wells.

looks good. if the front was a 17x8. was the backspace 5.72? you didnt have to run an additional spacer up front? On my 68 cuda, with the 73 & up factory disc brake kit, it was mandatory for me to use a 3/8" spacer for the rim to clear the outer tie rod end...(using the same 17x8 w/ 5.72'' backspace and a 245/45/17 tire)

If mine ever looked 1/4 that nice I'd just croak

That is one fine ride right there. Great combo.

car looks SICK! your gonna love the tires. i have the same set on my dart. they like 20-22psi and a lil heat. my car will dead hook on the street if you heat em a little.

Nope, clears ball joint and tie rod by 3/8". I did have to remove the upper ball joint zero fitting, but I will look for either a low profile fitting or a cap

Wheels are awesome! I'm putting them on my 72 dart. I also wanted to know where you purchased your hood scoop from? I'm looking to purchase one for my 72! Any help is greatly appreciated:)
