1961 Lancer Fender Tag
My Lancer 770 is a very basic example, with few if any options that I can see: 3-spd manual, no radio, no windshield washers, etc. Zero power options.
I'm guessing this is why my fender tag is so empty. Could someone explain under the alphabet string what the two entries might mean?
The tag appears like this:
1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 0
ABCDEFGHJKLMNPQRSTVWXYZ
1 2
SO NUMBER BDY TRM PNT
0823 6053 733 234 BB1
The "1" and the "2" are under the "A" and "S", respectively.
I understand the 733 trim to be the silver/ivory vinyl with black cloth interior and the paint to be the basic black. Does the sequence or shipping number suggest a manufacturing date?
Lastly, I read under another thread that a body or sequence number is located somewhere on the driver's side rad brace, down where the grill mounts, however when NC DMV inspected my car fully to find why the fender screws were new (was removed when car was painted - never, ever do this by the way), their internal systems told them the SO number is located on a flange behind the heater box, invisible unless unbolted. They unbolted it and thankfully the SO number there matched the fender tag.
Any advice on my tag info would be great. Thanks from NC.
