Does 90 degree oil filter adapter need cork gasket??

I just built a 340 and am needing to put it in tomorrow. I have the 90 degree adapter on there with just the bigger round gasket but just wondering if I really need the smaller round cork gasket?

Not being a wise guy here, but if you don't need it, why do they include it? Food for thought.

I have two of the gasket sets on my shelf and both of them have the smaller cork gasket.
