Anybody running 17" Cobra Bullit rims on a Duster

They do but you still have an interference at the end of the hub. Need to either modify the rotor, rim, or run a thin spacer.
 
Does anybody know if the American Muscle mustang wheels have a big enough opening or center register to clear mopar front hub?

I already have read that factory mustang wheels do not.

From what I can gather, most rotors are aftermarket, and they are all different, they all have some variance. Some fit the AM wheels just fine, some do not. I have parts store rotors and they needed a tiny bit taken off the register to fit, and a notch at the hub. I tried two different manufacturers of wheels and the factory wheels (I own a 2013 Mustang GT), neither fir without modification. It's a luck of the draw with aftermarket rotors, I hear 12" rotors clear just fine.

thanks! the wheels are American muscle brand. no screwing with the centers like factory wheels. 8 3/4 rear RMS frontend with wilwoods. I use 10mm spacers in the rear now until I do a mini tub,then I will go 10" in the rear.
 
I'm running bullits with a 1" adapters on all four corners with 4x5" and havent had any issues. Got the adapters from stokers hot rod shop for 130 for a set they were good quality and American made which made me feel better! They handle my 340 with 4.10s:burnout:
 
So I have narrowed my wheel choice to 18x10.5 with 15mm offset with b body rear in the duster and a 285/40/18 and 18x9.5 in front with 15,22, or 35 offset .... But not having the car near me is the issue. I would be willing to move the springs in to the frame, but even then and not having the car with me I can't tell. The 18x10.5 is 10.5 in wide of course and with the 295 tire it's a 11.5 wide tire section width, so in theory it should fit. There is around 12-12.5 in of room before mini tub and after moving springs in. I just wanted your guys opinion if the 154mm offset would work or not with a 10.5 wide wheel and 11.5 wide tire. The goal is to get CCW Classics and get a stance like wracks71. 15mm offset on 10.5in wide wheel is 6.34 BS
 
I think an 11" rim is physically 12" wide. The bead is 11"

While your rims are on your car you can just measure off your existing rims (get your rim actual specs) to get your capable additional space.

Cool program... With specs put in and 18x10.5 and 15mm offset it says "Package is 25 mm (1'') closer to suspension/brakes components. Make sure that you have enough room for that. If not, consider lower offset, narrower tires or using spacers."

I would look for a cheap wheel with those specs and try it on. That's what I plan on doing unless I just buy and make fit for rear, but what I read was for 18s you could get whatever you want for BS. I saw a guy is running 18x9.5 on front with +45mm bs which is 7in...that is a lot
 
I just finished putting on some late model Mustang replica wheels on a 72 Dart. I had to have the front rotors or more specifically the area around the outer bearing turned down for the wheels to fit the front. I also had to grind a little off the inside bore of the rear wheels to fit the back on a stock 8-1/4 housing, brakes, and axle. Not sure if it was needed but the rear also has the springs moved under the frame and mini tubed.

The front has 73+ suspension with the 11.75" disc rotor upgrade in the front.

Rims are 18 X 10 rear +24 tires 285-40-18
18 X 9 front +34 tires 245-40-18
Everything seems to fit pretty nice. Haven't aligned car yet, there may be slight rubbing on frame rail when steering wheel in full lock position right or left.

How wide of a tire?

6" is pretty much the minimum for a 9" wide rim, but Ive heard of 6" backspace on a 9" wide rim with 275's. I'd guess that you would need to trim the fender lips to make that work.

Also, a 27" tall tire would be a lot harder to fit than a 26", especially if you're lowered.

Yes the Dart has both mini tub and springs relocated under frame, but only because the work was started by prior owner.

Regarding the +24 on the 18X9 in the ads your seeing, that's not a typo. I had those at first them swapped them for the +34 as I wanted as much backspacing as possible. For the Mustang guys depending on the model year they use either the +24 or +34 for us Mopar guys I would recommend the +34 to keep the tires off the fender lip on the 18X9 front wheels.

But yeah, 5.94" with 9" rims is going to be tight on the fenders with a 275/40/18. Might work with some negative camber and a little fender lip trimming, but it's going to be close. I'm looking at getting an 18x9" with about 6.2-6.4" of backspace for the 275's for my duster. Lots easier to run a spacer if you have too much backspace, pretty much nothing you can do but go with a smaller tire if you have too little.

On a Dart, 255 is about as wide as you can go without moving the springs. The 1/2" spring relocation should get you to a 275 without cutting tubs, but that would be tight. You'd need to have the backspacing just about perfect, and you'd still probably need to trim the quarter lips on a Dart to do that.

On a Duster you can get 275's on with the stock spring location, with the stock axle you need about 4.75" of backspace on a 9" rim to get a 275 to clear the springs and the quarters. I had my challengers 17x9's with 275/40/17's mocked up on my Duster with the stock springs and axle, they're a 5" backspace but I needed a 1/4" spacer to get them off the springs.

I'm hoping for a 285/40/18 on the back my Duster with 18x9.5's and 6.4" of backspace, but that's also going to be with a 68-70 B rear and the 1/2" spring offset.

For '07's the 17x8's would have a 5.72" backspace, the 17x9's should have 5.94". Not a bad price at all with the tires.

As far as whether or not they'll fit, if you're running an A body rear you'll need spacers. 1", 1.25", and even 1.5" spacers are available, so you can make them work. If you have a B body rear you'd be in better shape, they'd be real close to bolting right on. Those are 27" tall tires though, so you'd probably want to go with shorter tires in the front.
 
Thanks. I'll have to re--check backspace, I'm running a Versailles disk brake 9", and it is some wider than a factory A body.

The wheels tires on it now are just about optimum for offset, and just about maxed out for both width and tire diameter:

These are supposed to be 15 x 7 , about 5 1/8 backspace. Tires are 225 x 75 x 15 Charts on the www show these tires are 28.3" diameter. They BARELY clear the front fender lip

I believe they are forged aluminum mustang GT wheels. I saw it on factory spec info.

You talking to me? What did you do for rear offset, and what are you running for an axle?
