Lockups for the 904 started in 1978 for both the leaning tower of power and the 318. A 1973 318 for sure is not a lockup, but the 1984 might be a lockup.
Chrysler used both types of transmissions from 1978 on.
The 727 also started using lockups in 1978 and used both types also.
A converter (factory core) usually has a decal on it. If it's a lockup converter it will have either a square or round decal. The decal typically says LS LOCKUP OR HS LOCKUP. The LS standing for LOW STALL, and HS for HIGH STALL.
