Best heads to use on la 360

Before you start looking at replacing cylinder heads I'd recommend you measure the volume of your current cylinder heads and also check how far down the bore your piston is at TDC.

You will need burette and a dial indicator with a magnetic base (a lot cheaper than a new set of heads!)

Doing this means you can determine your current compression ratio and determine if 400hp is achievable with some milling, I'd recommend minimum 9.5:1 static.

The stock 360 heads can be ported to make 400hp. they won't need much more than a tidy around the short turn and guide bosses. you'll probably want 2.02" intake valves.

I think Airwolfs would be overkill since they allegedly support up to 600hp. As Crackedback said they are a bit large on the port volume and not necessary for a 400hp 360.

The 750carb and air gap manifold are a good realistic combo for 400hp, you'll probably want a cam with more duration. Talk to a few cam manufacturers. but off the top of my head something along the lines of 237/242 @ .050 on a 108 lobe separation angle should get you there with ease.

Hope this helps.
