Your current hood looks fine. I think using the insulation to hide the odd holes from underneath is a great idea.

Thanks for the "review" on the sill plates. I'll try Classic Industries next time. I pretty much only go to Year One if I absolutely need to, which fortunately, hasn't been for a long time.
