killer thunderstorm in Abilene TX 06/17

hi y'all

had a killer thunderstorm last night in Abilene TX. we had 80 MPH straightline winds, and so much rain i had 4 inches of standing water filling my backyard, my kids 12 foot diameter trampoline also became airborne, it first slammed into my shop screwing up the door, the wall sheetmetal, and ripping off the corner of the rain gutter, before slamming into my house and tearing open a few pieces of my roof edging like a tuna can. then it dislodged itself from the back of the house, and flew over it, slamming into my fence, and finally slamming into my neighbors house smashing his dining room window, and breaking his gate into his back yard.

moral of the story is stake down a trampoline with really long stakes if you got one, or just dont get one. if your spouse wants one, show them pix of what one of these can do if they get airborne. this thing became a pretty bad *** projectile. the fence held up to a trampoline slamming into it at high speed pretty well being that the uprights are 2" square steel tube concreted 2 feet into the ground, filled with concrete, and the cross ties are 1" square tubing welded on. the pickets are screwed in dog eared cedar, these were the only casualty on my fence, 8 of em snapped off. in the last pic i already stained and screwed 8 new pickets back on.

well as far as the trampoline is concerned, i got some unbent pipes out of it for other projects, the security netting i will use to shade my veggie garden from the oppressive west texas heat and sun, and im going to put the center fabric jump on part on craigslist since its undamaged, and nice for somebody to have a spare since these do dryrot over time. im thinking the curved pieces i may make my poor mans body rotisserie out of em so i can roll the car on its side to weld on it. they will be welded up, and braced well so they can handle the weight of an empty car shell. i guess take the lemons your given and make lemonade out of em, i got to get something outta the damned trampoline for myself since its gonna cost me a small fortune LOL. i gotta laugh, otherwise i will cry, got a $1,000 deductable on my homeowners, and $2500 materials and labor to fix the damage to my home and shop not including my neighbors stuff. the roll up door cant be fixed to look and work good, so i have to order a new one $1,200 for just a door.

i will NOT be buying the kids another one thats for sure
