Too much heat on the starter

I used this type material and fixed it onto the exhaust with hose clamps, it's convoluted so it gives the heat somewhere to go.

It can be found on many late model cars, just get one from a wrecking yard for $5 and cut it to fit.

I recommend to not use it around the full diameter of the exhaust pipe as this won't allow the heat to escape and will cause premature destruction of the pipe itself.

Think of it as trying to reflect the heat away from the starter rather than trying to trap it inside the pipe.

Edit. I don't have TTI exhaust, but it's just a suggestion.
