Just wondering if anyone out there knows the difference between the 2005 -2006 jeep 6.1 hemi alternator ( P# 421000-0360 ) and the 2007 - 2009 unit ( P# 421000-0660 ) Ready to get one for the conversion and looks like the older one is a little cheaper and can't see any other differences?

Any help much appreciated.

Chrysler has bumped up the amps of the alternators over the years. I think if you compare the amp ratings of the two part numbers, you'll likely find that one is higher than the other, but a nice margin...

One of the things I would look for is a smaller alternator if you are using the Jeep or Car accessories. The alternator hits on some A-bodies and thus the smaller one MAY (YMMV) save you the trouble of trimming the inner pinch weld of the frame.

Thus, mopar used a couple of different Gen III hemi alternators with differing diameters, I'd find the one with the smallest diameter. Whether it is 130 amps or 160, unless you have a stereo that allows a person to listen to your music three miles away, the smallest diameter which should (have not verified) lowest power output will have over double the 60 amp output of your vintage alternator.

biggest difference you need to be aware of is the connector on the alt to the harness...

That is my plan. Run a old style volt regulator and the heavy charge cable back to the starter. Battery will be in the boot. Thanks for your help.
