lets see those "later" Darts 73-76

the more I look at them, the more I like the thick bumpers .....its gives them an big chin, aggressive look ....the car has a "kick butt and take no prisoners" expression compared to the earlier ones......the 69 has a pretty thick bumper too but does not have the attitude that the "beak" grilles have IMO.

maybe im just bored with the boxy stuff ....my current project is a 68 and that's all I been looking at since I got it.

that 73 ^^^ even looks fast

That's the best possible interpretation of the big bumper aesthetic. I don't totally disagree. Sometimes the nose of the '70-'72 Darts looks a bit too wimpy and the later cars certainly don't have that problem. I think you're right there.

'68-'69 is really just perfect though...I do get what you're saying but I just think they nailed it with those years.

To me, '73+ is a compromised design...where a law forced a change in the appearance of cars and very little was done to to the looks of the rest of the body to accommodate the new proportions.

Also, in a world where extra weight means slower ETs and worse driving dymanics, a giant chrome picnic bench on the front of the car is a sore spot. :D

I'm not in any way intending to sound like one of those anti-automotive legislation people... In geneal, they have made cars radically safer and much less polluting...and probably better on the whole. Sadly though, there is often a learning period where the new requirements are tacked on and it takes a while before the auto makers figure them out. Think "Lean Burn." :p
