disks outside the box

So my right rear wheel bearing started making noise on my way to work and on the way home it was grinding and popping. Should i repair or hit up the parts yard for a 8.8? Can i run rear disks with drums up front until i figure out my disk conversion? It should work with a correct mc and adjustable proportioning valve?
