You're absolutely right about that, 67Dart273. A "blanket party" is a sure-fire one-time cure-all. During basic training at Ft. Polk back in '71 we had a guy boasting he was going to go AWOL because he hated the Army and all the crap he was getting during basic. The rest of us knew we'd all catch hell if he went AWOL.
We got him that night when he was just starting to sneak out of the barracks and one "blanket party" later there was no more mention of even thinking of going AWOL.
The next morning our drill sergeant asked him what happened to him and he said he tripped going to the latrine during the night. Looked like he'd tripped and fallen down about 4 flights of stairs.
