OMG look at her trunk!

Did the k-cars come with a donut, if I remember right the k-car(&Shelby chargers)where the metric equivalent of 5x4. I know it is not exact but could be close enough for emergency pruposes? Got a k-car rim out back and the wheels off of the Dart maybe I will test fit one.
 
I thought there was a thread on FABO once that talked about a Lincoln continental doughnut spare fitting nicely.
 
Thought about doing that for my 69 dart, gotta admit ... your setup looks a hell of a lot better then what I was imagining ..... you did a great job , will wait for your templates ....another hint hint for you.
 
Forgot to say that I like it. I have gave it some thought of doing that, but it wouldn't have turned out half as nice.
Checked fitment of the stock steel k-car rim (14", 5.5 wide), rim only no tire, about 1" clearance on back, no go on front, the center hole on the rim is too small, and it looks like if it did go on it would hit the upper control arm.
 
I will take a pic of my trunk tomorrow after it is packed for 3 days at Moparfest.... NOT an ounce of extra space...

But will still like this for the rest of the year. I will buy a template when your ready :D

Yes you are right does cut down valuable space for those out of town weekenders,but you can always break it down and lay it flat in the trunk until youneed it for the show:cheers:

How bout a changeable center section? Have a round hole in the main floor piece that's just bigger than the spare wheel well then have 2 different pieces to put in there, just a round flat piece to cover a spare on long trips etc. and a center section that has the storage and square lid in it like yours has, then you can swap the 2 out whenever you want! I think this makes sense. I hope so.
 
In all honesty,with regards to the spare could probably put the tool box in with the cleaner stuff and make up a circular drop in panel with the logo. Spare tire problem resolved.:cheers: Back to the drawing board.:banghead:
 
Very nice work. I bet it absorbs a good amount of road noise. Come to think of it, Chrysler New Yorkers came with fully carpeted trunks back in the 1960s.

I'm thinking late-model Charger or Magnum have wheel/tires about the same diameter and I think they ran 5x4.5 for a few years.

You'd want close to the same outer diameter, especially with a suregrip.
 
Man, that's nice. Did you make the Mopar "M"? It really pops.
Yeah printed one out off the internet,traced it and cut it out.It's also got another layer of neoprene 1/4" bigger than the blue one,sso it almost has a badge look to it rather than so flat.
 
I’m just gonna bump this up for more people to see. I still think this is a brilliant idea and plan to utilize this in a few of my cars.
 
Kool idea.

My mind is a swill with cosmic thoughts of how beautiful my trunk will be if I were to utillize this idea.
