Dads Duster
Well, she's finally home. A little back story on her. My dad bought her new in '69. Original slant 6 engine and the car came with amazing options like... am radio. He drove her for about 15 years with minimal incidents (and many great stories behind her, but I'll save those for another time). When I got my license in '94, and my dad was a bit comfortable with my driving, he let me take it out with the warning that engine had many miles on it so drive safe. Thankfully for me the engine decided to belch out it's last breath while I was behind the wheel. Had to walk to a pay phone and tell him the news. Dad arrived and seemed very happy to see me. :thumblef: Towed me home and that's the last time she drove under her own power. Dad tucked her away in the garage and she sat. Once about 15 years ago he found a guy that might be able to assist in bringing her back to life (minor frame work, quarters, the usual Michigan abuse) but the guy slapped some bondo on her, shot her with color, and called it good. While at this "shop" the mint condition front grill and a couple other hard to find parts "disappeared" so my dad gave the guy a few choice words and dragged her back home where she sat until today, when I finally became the new "father". I have lurked around in these forums for a while but now's the time to start spitting out questions. Be prepared as my knowledge in limited. Thanks for reading and hopefully someday my dad will get to see her on the road again. Please pay no attention to the car beside her, that's my wife's car (she's a little messed up in the head).
