heater box foams

I'm assembling my NON A/C heater box. I'm not sure where the two longer thin gray foam pieces go. The instructions say the longer one goes on the heater core somewhere. It doesn't say anything about where the shorter gray one goes. You can see the two pieces I'm talking about in this link.

it could be for a later, different, model? I looked it over I cant say for sure but haven't done one newer then 70.

It goes on the flange of the heater core nearest the flapper door. It helps seal the flapper door.

So once the core is screwed in place, install the long foam piece right on the edge? What about the short piece of foam?
