new race car, no oil pressure

GOT THIS PROBLEM SOLVED BOYS AND GIRLS!!!!

it was indeed the rear copper tube that was installed. he had not driven it in far enough, and had the main passage coming up from the oil filter, blocked off. got the engine out of the car, and removed the plug in the rear, that lets you look down the passenger side oil galley. just pass the threads for the plug, was the copper tube. went over to the corner of the shop, and took the same plug out of my factory 340, and just pass the threads, is the main oil feed hole that comes up from the filter, and feeds the main oil galley, the oil pressure port, and the rear cam bearing.

so, Fishy, it does matter if the tube gets driven all the way to the back. it covers the huge oil passage from the filter, and nothing is getting oil!

thanks for the suggestions guys, I'll let you know how it turns out. taking it back to the engine builder saturday, and he is going to do a complete teardown, and endmill the tube from the rear, until he uncovers the oil passage.

So what your seeing looks different than the diagram I posted? It's from the factory service manual and I assumed it'd be correct. When I said he could drive it till it hits the rear wall and it wouldn't affect the other parts of the engine I was going by the factory oil flow diagram. I'm sorry, apparently it is wrong or I just can't follow a diagram. Any time in the future I won't waste time trying to help someone without seeing it up close and first hand. I have rebuilt several small blocks but never had a reason to sit and memorize the oil flow.
