Do not blast the body. If you have some scrap aluminum that's oxidized, try some wood bleach on it. Heat up some water and dissolve a table spoon of the powder in it. Watch the part very closely. I did a test and the wood bleach did a good job of removing the oxidation and left the aluminum looking good. If I had a scrap carb, that's what I'd try.
