mild steel vs. chrome moly

Does anyone know the benefits between the two. Let's say an 8 point cage. is there a big weight difference to make someone want to pick between the two. Also the cost factor between them. My car is a 68 Dart.

first you need to decide how far you want to go with this car. if you plan to go faster then 8.50's in the 1/4 mile that will dertermine what type material to have your cage made of.

me personaly from the cars I've helped build and tune go with the chromoly. it will help with resale in the future. and save you money later if you do go that fast, because the mild steel will have to be removed and replaced, which most shops will charge you to do. which means you will pay twice for the cage, also put the most cage you can afford. it is easier to do it now then trying to add bars in the future.

my personal car has a cheap jegs kit in it that I installed for my buddy when he owned the car, im fixing to cut it all out and put chromoly in it. and by the way it is a street/strip car.
