4 speed shifter problems need help here

Best thing to do in these situations,is walk away. Leave it for another day.
Come back with a clear head. Things work much better that way.

In the mean time,get a diagram of an A body 4 speed.
Make sure the shifter levers and rods are installed correct.
I'm guessing you have something installed incorrectly.

Tip: Both shift levers must be in neutral when installing the shift rods.
