depends on the application...true dual(no crossover) 1.75" or 2" pipes with some long cherry bombs on a low comp chevy 350 gives the sound you describe.and i agree it belongs on a low rider.however dual 2.5" or 3" with an x-pipe with a set of dynomax bullets or jones thunderbolts on a mopar sb with some cam and compression will have a different note....
