OK,tired of my gas prices already !!! Are there varying head gasket thicknesses that I could try to drop CR,or is it time to just do yet another head ?:violent1:

felpro's come in 3.4 and a 3.5-3.510 headgasket both in .037 compressed. Mopar used to have, and can be found, in 3.510 .021 thick steel shim.

I think the aussie speed has one but know nothing about it.

Well first we would need to know what compression and heads you have and what you want it to be. Camshaft information would help also. Just because you have an older car, you might not even have to run 91.

1st,I CAN't run 91, 100 is the lowest I've used, and that's still backing timing out ! Compression is 11:1 ! No I can't give you all the teckno terms, butI have a reliable builder that I trust ! The Head was built by an A Body member and shipped to me, so I don't know exactly what race tricks he put into it ! I do have the original stock head that I shaved .090 off of and had the bowls blended that I was tempted to put together and try that and see how I made out ! Camshaft is 530/278 (?), I'd have to dig a bit ! CRS sucks !!!
It was not built to be timid !!

You need to know what pistons, deck height, cylinder head cc before you can start to figure out what to do.

Pistons are Wiseco, CC's were 52 if I remember correctly !I'm sure the builder has them written down in his files !

Cometic will make whatever thickness you want.

Cometic makes slant 6 head gaskets?

Maybe a stock reman head with some nice chamber cleanup will get you there? Cam might be a little too big as well.

:eek:ops:
for 11.00 t0 1, you should be running an alum. head., that`s too high for a cast head, not that it won`t work, it just won`t do it w/o running higher octane gas. you can typically run a point higher w/ alum.-just sayin---bob

well as soon as you cast one let us know

May not have to worry about it after all ! Sounds like I have an interested buyer coming to look at it !!! :dontknow: We shall see !!

if you really love and want to keep the car and engine the best bet long term is expensive, but worth it. engine pull > piston swap or maybe your builder can modify your current pistons to enlarge the cuts in them and increase the cc's (depends on which model wiseco's I think).

you might be able to sell the pistons to recoup some of the money.

a thick custom head gasket might do the trick like you have considered. cheaper than a piston swap, but still not a freebie. and it might not lower the cc's enough.

Slant sixes can run 11.0:1 with the right cam all day long. Small bore, long stroke, poor breathing = low VE = low chamber filling = less pinging.

You're right,it WILL run all day with the right octane gas ! It would probably be a little happier with better than 100 Octane too !! But, I won't be needing to worry about it any more !

Yes,should be picked up later in the week ! Totally forgot to ask him if he was interested in the spare parts I've got too !!

Sounds like problem solved. Next time think of adding water injection.

That was next on my agenda ! The Smart water/ Methanol injection kit !! Had a guy checking into it for me when these two guys decided they were interested in it !

Chrysler Marine makes a marine head gasket for /6 that is .046". It is a stainless sandwich gasket with medium between. Pricy as hell, about $75. Basically, it was designed a long time ago to run in salt water on unleaded fuel (called "white gas") of low octane. Hope this helps
