1966 Dodge D/Dart ~ 'Mystery, Myth and Misconception'
Alan,
Correct....... 'The Newcomer' was based out of Fredericksburg, Maryland.
'The South Central Dodge Dealers Association' D/Dart was a different car.
A typical Mopar 'Dealer Association' comprised of 15 or so 'Regional Dealers' that would pool
some of their advertising money together, to put towards sponsoring a Drag Car at their
local Drag Strip {ie; York US 30 Dragway}.
They only promoted the 'current' Model Year Car {ie; 1966 D/Dart}, and then would
sell it off {at a fair price} at the end of the Model Year.
From what I gathered, 'one' Joseph Allore ran a 'Dealer-Sponsored' 1965 Plymouth Satellite
383/325 HP 4-Speed in C/S in 1965, and D/S in 1966 with 'moderate success'.
He bought the D/Dart from the Dealers Association at the end of the 1966 Racing Season.
