1965 Dodge Dart Charger
Probably worth talking to
REM Automotive about their trunk mats; I think they make the ones sold by Dante's as described
here. I think they are probably going to be the closest you can get to the original -- if your '65 original is anything like my '62 original, it's a weird material with a rough texture on the back, kind of like a soft version of linoleum. I've never seen such a material offered in the aftermarket.
Thanks Dan! I have sent a request to Dantes for the trunk mat.It seems that they are the closest to find on the market. I just can't get the nameon my pattern!! I havethe following to choose from; Houndstooth, Herringbone, Tan Plaid and Gray Plaid!Any help is appriciated.
I got a package today from Totally Auto. Dave Ferro and the team did an excellent job on my worned out aluminium mouldings. They turned them into assembly line standard. My NOS front ones "candy canes" looks not so good compared with the restored ones!!
I found another trunk wiring harness for the taillights. On this particular one is the part number tag on! I did not have that on any other car. Differencies between Detroit, St Louis and Los Angeles?
I ordered a package of wiring ends from Arizona Parts. With these ends I was able to restore the bulb socket and put new seat in. Turned out great.
I checked all glass before I boxed them up for transport to Finland. Front window has the markings in the middle of the window and the lower part. The markings has been done from outside.
Rear window has the markings centered in the middle of the lower part. They are located on the inside of the glass.
The glass for the doors has the markings on the right side on the glass. Sam glass on the drivers door = one saved partnumber! The rear quarter glass has the markings on the right side of the glass. So Chrysler did a great job cutting part numbers , racks, warehouse area and such!
It seems that around 1964/1965 they changes the system for date codes on the car parts. For example I have an L4 carburator which is November 1964. Here you can see the front windshield has M4 which means December 1964 while the rear window has 114 for November 1964!! Funny!
Finally before leaving the shop and picked up my NOS trunk panel. It's very dirty so I need to give it a good clean. Bought it 25 years ago in Finland!
