Anyone try these distributors?

gotta skip white $45 HEI dizzy in my dirt track car,..turnning 7800 rpm an doing a fine job!! its a good peace, a billion chevys cant be wrong...

Have one of these in my hot 318. However I upgraded the ignition module for stability at high RPM and had the advance calibrated for my cam. If you're planning on doing the same thing then nothing else comes close for value per dollar.

The bearings, housing, o-ring etc and other moving parts in these are as good as any and with a good module it's still dirt cheap performance compared to a msd or similar (any of which can be still be faulty, no matter how expensive)

Can you tell us what particular ignition module you upgraded it with???

Thanks,
Doug

It's a Pertronix flamethrower (good for up to 7500RPM and worth about $50)

(distributor is a procomp purchased here in Australia)

As said, you need to upgrade the module in all that chinese stuff. No matter who you buy it from, it's all made in the same factories over there.

I had no complaints with the skip white one installed just the way it came off eBay. I love the clean simple wiring and powerful spark. Much better then the Mopar performance setup at 4 times the price.

They are from that little weasel Peter in Australia and are Chinese JUNK JUNK JUNK worst distributor we've ever run. We won't touch them in our shop
If you really believe that these P'sOS are a good distributor then you have no idea of how a distributor works or what it does and unless you have actual output and timing data then don't say they work great your just gossipping and spreading false information and BS on inferior worthless products.
Typical Skip White Performance, Summit Brand type parts.........

Run one of these in my ride with great results,i used the female dizzy cap and recurved it to suit my engine.

I say this is a B.S. answer. You haven't SAID anything. How about some photos? Some documentation? What exactly is wrong with them specifically?

We already KNOW a lot of crap is Chinseo crap, that's a given.

Tell ya what. I can show you a few things "way back" in the 70's that the aftermarket "crew" should not have been very proud of

And just 'who is spreading gossip and discord?None other than your self for starters, skip white stuff has good reviews and I PERSONALLY have used 7 with no ISSUES..as have many on this forum,I assure you if you contact his site or call they will be more than happy to solve your mech problems provided you have his product and purchased it from him,I understand there is junk chinese crap knock offs, and his may be made in china but he stands behind his stuff but I think he has them put together in the USA and are tested to 12,000 rpms...not all stuff from china is junk...I know these products are great as I stated and 6 of my friends have all run them...ZERO ISSUES..they are available with or without the module depending on application and vac adv models are adjustable..so I think I have a pretty good idea about these distributors and how they work...the BS is your response therefore I doubt you have used any of his products for his service dept is great and prompt...for if you had dealt with him you would not be dissing his products, maybe you got burned by someone else in the grapevine or a knock off....thats my data...and you also dissed Summit..shame on you..and what kinda shop do you have a barber shop or a donut shop?

Those distributors under cut his profit...LOL....

Look man, if you have something negative to say about these distributors then that's exactly what this thread is for, everyone to have their say.

I believe I have a pretty good basic understanding of what a HEI ignition does and how they work. But I'm also open to the possibility that you are right and that I, being a happy customer of this product "have no idea how a distributor works or what it does".

I invite you to humble me with your superior technical expertise on distributor tech and explain to me why you come to the conclusion that these units are junk.

I'n not being a smartass, If you have done "actual output and timing data" or know someone who has then I would find it very interesting to hear some details or even just some sort of brief technical summary of how that data compares to more expensive units.

i received mine doa... i called skip white and with in 2 days received the part to fix it at no cost to me they walked me through what they thought might be wrong and stayed in contact with me until they knew they had it right... that being said if you do receive a "bad" one just call them... they were more than happy to help me

Great thread, Im sold and will be calling this Skip White person Monday morning, hopefully can get the female cap instead of the one pictured (male). I had already ordered and received an MSD 6AL and blaster 2 coil for street use, changed my mind and goin with the HEI, my buddy snatched that MSD 6AL quick LOL. Will have an MSD 7AL and pro power coil for sale or some possible trading as soon as the car starts the first time with the HEI. I went 320K miles on the original HEI module in my daily driver truck so the HEI is a GOOD ignition in my book !!!

I love the attitude if it's Chinese then it's junk... Sort of like EVERY product from Apple?
I may not know the magic wizardry you speak of inside the magic box, but I do know what a good running car is like, and I'm no math professor but I do know $50 is less then $300.

I have used 2 of these HEIs in the past, my last one was from skip white because of all the good reviews, I will say it was the best 39.00 i'v spent lately & it was way better then the other 2 i had.

Buddy of mine is running this dizzy in a mopar powered rat rod and his engine runs just fine. Of course its just a driver so maximum performance was not his goal. He was looking for an easy self contained ignition w minimal wiring.
