Don't Laugh at Military Graves

Freedom is precious and at times difficult to understand and accept. Freedom means there are times when we will hear things that hurt our feelings and test our sensibilities, but the speaker must have the right to say them.
When I visit a military cemetery or place of honor dedicated to the young men and women who lost their lives in service, I can barely control my intense sorrow, and the last thing I can think of doing is to laugh. If I hear someone laughing, it only tells me that they are a self-indulging idiot and I would have no reluctance to inform them of that fact. The honor guard did exactly that, and did it in a way that I’m certain anyone who was there, or who has seen this video, will remember forever. If the fallen soldier’s family chooses to laugh over his grave, they certainly have the right to do so, but they have the obligation of decency to do so in private or to understand the ire of others if they choose to act the fool.
As for the self-proclaimed Christians who celebrate the death of soldiers, well, the entire world knows they are misdirected idiots, but in a free society they too must have the right to express their stupidity. There are so few of them and they mean nothing to society. Their demonstrations will not convince anyone with compassion or common sense to join their church, and their god will deal with them. Where we go wrong is by giving them the status of acknowledgment rather than the indifference they deserve.
