I think you could go either way or better yet do the top color onto the inner fenders and then break it and do the lower color at the same line as the outside. carrying the two tone into the door jambs, trunk and engine bay would make it stand out!

I'm with this or continue the graphix
If you want to stay somewhat true to OEM, primary body color, engine bay, trunk, everywhere.
A two tone paint scheme is a secondary treatment just like stripes, vinyl top, black hood, etc...

I'm currently working on a 65 Dart 270 convertible, and plan on red on the bottom, and white on top.

As mentioned, since the cowl and the top of the fenders are going to be white, it might seem weird having a red engine bay. But, I also don't really want an all white engine bay. So, I've decided to two tone the engine bay also. I'm going to go white on top of the inner fenders, and around at that height, and red below.

Wow! I feel so bad that so many of you would just walk by my De-valued car because the engine bay is black! I like the cowl area body color and the inside lips of the fenders also. But beings my car is too low class for alot of you. Sorry to offend the mopar kings!

i did mine black. look at my avatar pic.

Nice!! and your thoughts on it? Is it finished yet? Any more pics?

I love it - more importantly, so does the owner. :glasses7: Still not finished due to owner funding issues :(

Nobody dissed your car....using black in the engine bay is lame unless your car is black. It just looks unfinished. I know black is a good cover up for a nasty looking engine bay but it's just that....a cover up.

I think you will find most folks think the same way when it comes to a classic MOPAR.

Don't feel bad Doug Swinger340. I have mine painted black. I think it looks great. That's the way I wanted it! If nobody likes it I don't care! I'm out to please myself and nobody else. And I've been to Mopar shows and taken trophies so it can't be that bad.

Thanks 340! I recently got my car back after 23 years and it has had a black engine bay for as long as I have known it. And I am not covering anything up. And hey I like it and I have the say on this ride! I have always presented the car well and had a ton of fun with it! Have a great day everyone!

ok, I may get a pass on this whole "black engine bay debate" The Black on my hood goes over onto the tops of the fenders, Like a 69 roadrunner or GTX. Anyway the great thing about owning a classic is you can do what ever you want, you the owner are the judge.. Later guys Hey I need a set of cragars, sbp.
