question for Tony and Mad Dart
I know you guys both said you run RMS adjustable strut rods. well, I bought a set of QA1 adjustables which is the same design. I went with those because I was able to get a great deal on a new set.
anyway, I would like to quickly explain how I installed these, and you guys tell me if I'm good or if I need to back up and punt.
I first tightened the K member end down and went ahead and torqued it. next, I slid the lower control arm onto the pivot pin and as it went on, I guided in the end of the strut rod. with the control arm fully seated on its pivot pin I adjusted the strut rod out until the shoulder lightly seated against the control arm. at this point I tightened the strut rod nut on the back of the control arm.
so at this point the control arm is fully seated at the back of the pivot pin and the strut rod has been tightened to the control arm and the k member, but no tension has been put on the lower arm.
I now turn the adjuster on the strut rod just slightly until I feel a little tension, and I lock the jam nuts on both ends.
I done this with the car on my lift with the suspension hanging down. Is this the way it should have been done or should I have put the car back on 4 tires before adjusting?
thanks for the help guys. I love QA1's products, but the guy who wrote those half a$$ intructions they sent must have never seen a Mopar front suspension.
