I remember when Flowmaster mufflers were just becoming popular in the early 90s. They seemed like they transformed a street car into a NASCAR stocker with that bellowing sound. Back then I drove a Camaro and considered a switch to them.
Here I am many years later, a Mopar man with these Flowmasters. I have been running 2 1/2" exhaust with # 42541 mufflers since 2002. I have been happy with the sound for the most part but the cackle is starting to wear on me a bit. I'm thinking of a change. I've read good things about the Dynomax Welded Ultra Flo mufflers. I'm thinking about replacing my exhaust from the headers to the mufflers to 3" with an X pipe. The TTI site shows a kit but they say their X kit wn't fit a car with a Gear Vendors. It looks like I'll be piecing a kit together and having the pipes bent at a shop.
What mufflers are you running?

Dynomax ultra flow welded, my favorite to date. Was gonna go with magnaflows, glad i chose these though.

Dynomax welded ultra flows. I was running the Summit turbos that came with the Summit 2 1/2" exhaust kit, but they started leaking at the crimped edges after about 700 miles. They sounded good, nice and mellow, until they started leaking. But they didn't hold up to the exhaust pressure that my 340 is putting out.

The Ultra Flows are significantly louder. It's a noticeable difference at idle, but at full song it's an entirely different ball game. The ultra flows are a lot less restrictive.

This is where I might be headed. The reports I read show them to be better flowing than most if not all others.
I looked around and found this X pipe:

What changes do you expect when switching to an X pipe system? I've read that they increase torque and soften the "bark" in the exhaust tone. Did I read that right?

Here is another type of X pipe:

i love the sound of these on my demon mine has an X pipe so it sounds a bit smoother and a bit of a higher pitch than the clip.i'm guessing the gto in the clip has eather a H or no crossover.

FlowTec Terminators

Spintech. crazy metal boxes with little curls welded in them. strange but they sound like a mellow flowmaster without the rasp, and NO resonance. Only seen one other pair run in person, must have been a gimmick. I DONT like the tink-tink sound of a flowmaster at idle.

I don't really have a favorite but mostly like a welded case for tone and durability. I don't like the quieter stuff. I think my '65 will be getting a single chambered muffler like a Turbo Tube or something.

I love the flow master sound, but will probably go with hemi style mufflers on the barracuda.

I've got Spintech mufflers and tips on my 470 Duster. I used them because I wanted 3" inlets and outlets on the same side and set it up like a T/A Clallenger or AAR Cuda exhaust system. I think they kick ***! They are as mello as a 3" system can be at an idle or cruising and sound awesome when I lay into it.

Borlas are my favorite for all out drag race/street terror in 3.5" and larger diameters. Those things at 8K rpm are music. My Dart is getting Spintech's next go around. Magnaflow's have a bong water sounding burble I hate.

for a chambered muffler my vote would be heartthrobs HVS muffler.very similar sound to a flowmaster...but they actually flow and they dont drone or resonate.or the classic chambered powersticks.for a straight thru design i like the jones thunderbolt glass packs combined with an x pipe (loud) or dynomax ultraflo (quiet).

I am really surprised to see such a variety. The Dynomax Ultra Flos seem to hold the edge in popularity in other areas I've checked. I read that they are really popular with the F.A.S.T. series cars.

Member VOETOM made me up a pair of these. They should flow pretty well. Unfortunately, we won't know how they sound until I get an engine in the car!

Here is a pic next to a stock 340 muffler.

Yup, Most of the FAST guys are using the UltraFlows, Some of them have switched to Pypes Street Pros

Lots of favorites here but only one video? I'd like to hear them too.
