Connecting rods and pistons

Question for 72BBS Swinger,

It is my understanding that the connecting rods in the 6.1L Hemi are powdered metal and that rod caps are cracked. The benefits of this cracking is that it creates an irregular surface that helps to keep the cap from moving. The downside, is that you cannot resize the big end.

It was also my understanding that when you replaced the rod bolts you had to resize the big end.

So what gives, how can you install ARP rod bolts?

Also Modern Muscle,

Those pistons look really cool, are they only available in stock compression?

Regards,

Joe Dokes

With the valve reliefs in the pistons it is actually a little lower then stock compression. Unfortunately if you want more then the weight will be out of spec and then the pistons are no longer a drop in.
