I'm thinking of installing A/C in my non-A/C 68 Barracuda. I was also considering installing a factory A/C box while I have the interior out. Then I noticed you get into the different dash bezel and controls, etc. Will any other A-body boxes fit the Barracuda? I already have a compressor from a Magnum swap. Biggest thing is whether the Valiant or Dart boxes will work. Seems to be a lot more of them around. Thanks

Valiant or Dart boxes will work and interchange. In some year 70? they changed the vent outlets to black plastic vs. chrome. I don't know if later underdash stuff changed in the early/mid 70's.

The blower motor hole in the firewall is larger on an A/C car. And there are more holes in the firewall for A/C stuff.

Someone posted photos on here. The firewall is actually a different SHAPE. Maybe it would not be that difficult to deal with, I don't know.

adding factory a/c can be / has been done. It's more trouble than its worth though.
All aspects will be cooler with a aftermarket unit.

RedFish is probably correct on the performance issue but I have never been a fan of how the aftermarket ac systems look. If you decide to go the factory route I have a template you can use to mark out all the correct holes. It is just a piece of firewall from an ac car but lays exactly over yours to make hole location a breeze.
