Has anyone pulled the gas tank on a 67-68 Barracuda fastback? I replaced the one on my ragtop, but on the fastback, the filler tube goes under the rear interior platform. I gave it a luke-warm attempt, but didn't get too far. Need to replace the gas tank filler tube grommet.

Did you find the solution yet? I also have a 67' fastback and have the same problem. Except I'm replacing the whole tank. The bad gas almost destroyed my fresh head I put on. My car was also originally white black right now but was thinking of painting back white again. Do you have any pics?

I have done several fastbacks use a new grommet as they are a bit more flexible then the dried hard old ones. Clean the end of the tube of debris and with a little lube on the tube I can twist the tank back and forth on the tube and walk it on. Once I had to remove the three upper screws that secure the cap and had a friend apply down force while twisting the tank and walking it on. Removing the shocks gives a little more room as it is a tight fit in there. You have to have the car secured from the frame and the rear floating down. The last one I did I did it with one arm.
