How do you prime the oil pump?

I primed my engine several months ago by driving the shaft with a drill. The motor is now ready to put into the car. I've decided to make a primer for this motor and others by making a tank with a pump in it. I'll make an adapter to drain oil from the pan into a tank with that has a filter and pump inside, sort of like a fuel tank with internal pump. It will pump oil continuously by pumping oil through a hose into the sending unit port and then it will drain back into the tank automatically via the oil pan drain adapter. I'll turn the engine a few degrees every few minutes to make sure the rocker shafts get their share. Should work on just about any m otor as long as someone makes an adapter for the drain plug.
