The First 1967 383 A-Body, 'Barracuda or Mr. Norms's Dart'

Gino,

The 1st 'Proto-Type' ...

Was called the 383 'Cuda

It was a Notchback {Hardtop Coupe}, that was equipped with 10" Front Drum Brakes, and had a shipping weight of #3036 lbs.

The '1st Tests' were with the 383, a 727 Torque-Flite, and 3.55 Gears w/Sure Grip.

Reports were that the Barracuda 383 'easily' hit 14.60's @ 97 MPH.

While the Barracuda was 'quick' in the 1/4 Mile, it was poor in handling and Plymouth
was 'against' making the car any quicker.

And the 10" Drum Brakes were quickly canned {because of poor braking} in favor of the Disc Brakes.

The Front Disc Brakes added another +50 lbs. to the Front Suspension.
