Looking for recommendations for my 400-470- stroker with 11:1 comp. This is strickly a street car. The cam is designed to be street friendly for EFI later. Going to carslile next weekend. The iron intake I am currently using for breakin is CHOKING it. To my understanding dual plane is better for street?? What say ye.

Well, id like to know the:

Cam specs
Rear gear ratio
Tire size
Stall of the verter

Depending on the above, the intake recommendation could be made a bit better.
Overall I would, with a 3.91 gear or numerically higher vote for a single plane intake due to the sheer size of the engine.
Considering you said "strictly a street car" I would have no issue with a MoPar M1 single on top. While there are better intakes for high HP, the unknowns have me conservitive on choice.

yes but high rise single plane might require hood mods...... that's why i suggested dual plane

Maybe so. He also did not put a restriction on that.
Worst case, he cuts a hole in the hood and adds a hood scoop to look cooler than ever.
Perhaps the RPM will be what he needs? Who knows? Where missing some info.

With 470 cubes & depending on the cam size and the rest of the drivetrain....
Torque should not be a problem! LOL!

Just what is a street cam? It is amazing what someone will live with on the street.

true lol. for some people over .700 lift at the valve is race .600's and down is street

anyways , we kinda need to know if it's auto trans too. kickdown linkages and throttle cables cant be stretched. manual trans makes it way easier.

if he gets an intake and valley pan and gasket set maybe he can just do the swap at the field and get some guys to help. if he needs a hood with scoop i'm sure there will be some right at the meet haha

You mentioned EFI....TPI or TBI??? Have never seen many TPI systems with a dual plane. The only one I have ever seen available commercially for a B-block is from Indy....might want to just get an intake you can weld the bungs to later. Once the manifold just flows air the single vs dual plane thing goes away..

Ok here is some more info. 5 spd tranny, currently 4.30 gears subject to change once put on the road, 586 lift solid roller cam and this intake will only be temporary until I get the funds for the EFI. I already have an old school dual quad intake for that, more for the coolness than performance. The whole efi kit from Fast is just over 2800.00 including the linkage. I could get the mod man intake from Indy but that is another 500 or 750 with bungs already setup. Cutting a hole in the hood is TOTALLY out of the ? The car is a 63 valiant with dart style scoops mounted on hood. Any other info needed please pm me.

Does Indy make a dual plane intake for the 400?

No, my mistake. Sorry. I overlooked that it was 400 based. They do make a good single plane intake for a low deck though.

You know what they told me on the phone? They said that there's no demand for low deck stroker stuff. lol

I forgot to mention earlier in my info that my heads are fully ported stealths. I remember reading in mopar muscle about the big block intake comparison they did a nd the weiand team G came out on top. It is a raised single plane, just haven't got the height dim. to see if it will fit.

So I am guessing you are talking about the XFI system? If so it is a TPI system and will need a single plane....

Might want to hunt down a member....Turbofreak....he put bungs in a manifold where there were none. Believe he just epoxied them.

Don't forget the throttle body is a good deal shorter than a karbanator body...good luck getting it under the hood....
