Another problem for us on trans brake-HELP
So here goes I'll try and be short and sweet,Met Jim Rush this morning on my trany issues,He is a Local mopar 727 specialist,Much to my amazement I thought I would drop off and go BUT Jim had differant thoughts,He told me he won't pull a trany down without the customer in front of him unless he has done your work before,HUH I thought oh well here goes a couple hours NOT,He grabbed a couple tools and a 3/8 impact and had the trany torn down in about 15 minutes TOTAL-I was amazed not knowing what to expect,Well it wasn't good AT ALL,I have a stock trany with ALL stock components except for a bolt in sprague of which the springs were bent in describable ways.THe bands were almost metal to metal the clutches the same,The pump was toast he showed me how to use a dial gauge to check it.SO where i thought we had a race prepped trany and launching the car at 4400 with a trans break i'm thankful my son still has a right foot,This is another place were the previous owner REMOVED the good stuff that was supposed to be in the trany that he told me was in there,Now on to the tranbrake problems-THe solonoid has a shaft that pushes a plunger that is located in a bore much like a piston in a caliper WELL the plunger was sideways in the bore and that's what caused erratic operation of the transbrake SO he's installing all parts from A&A-New alum drum,New bands,New clutches,New pump,New rollerized bolt in sprague,New trans brake valve body from A & A a seal kit and running it on a dyno. When all is said and done it will be around $2000 cash which I didn't want to spend but so be it that's racing I guess and guess what?????? He answers his phone every time I call him and he is 45 min. away so I had to learn a lesson I guess--Thanks For the help guy's and anyone in Wisconsin it's RUSH PERFORMANCE TRANSMISSIONS in kenosha--Steve
