Very long story; I'll be messed up for a while, but lucky to be alive

That's the thing so many riders don't realize when they first throw a leg over their bike - it's not a matter of if you'll go down, but when.
I've been extremely fortunate in being down 3 times here in SoCal in 30+ years of riding, twice on the freeways due to other people on four wheels stupidity, and never been injured.
Hang in there, follow the doctors and rehab instructions to the letter and heal up.
Sounds like the scars are going to be great conversation starters!
