Forward in 'start' position or forward in 'run' position? If it works in 'run' but not 'acc', someone wired the radio into a wire that is part of the 'run' ignition circuits, when it should be wired to the 'acc' side of the fuse box. Find a service manual and wiring diagrams, or post the year/make/model.
