/6 or V8 K members were the same until '67. Which side of the mounting 'eers are your mount brackets bolted to? If they are bolted to the front side of the mounting 'eers (GO WVU beat TCU) it will put the engine roughly 1/2" toward the rear of the car. Moving the brackets to the other side of the 'eers will move the engine roughly 1/2" toward the front of the car. That should line up the clutch linkage and possibly provide enough clearance for the Spitfires. The Magnum manifolds will still hit the steering coupler but you can grind enough off the manifold flange and the coupler for everything to clear and still function. Sounds like you need to take a break for a while and enjoy an adult beverage or your favorite combustible plant material or both. Cramming a V8 into a space designed for an inline six is frustrating to say the least, but the results are well worth it. Pardon the WVU reference but I couldn't help my self. That's where my mind goes when I see or hear anything close to "Mountaineers". My family has lived in WV since at least 1797 and WVU has been our college of choice since 1869...
